Go to a Museum
You might not even realize your city has a museum or lots of them. Museums have become a lost art, but they are a lot of fun. Most of the time museums are fairly cheap, and sometimes have free or reduced pricing if you’re a student.
Museums, no matter what it’s in them, offer you a chance to avoid any awkwardness by asking each other about what they think of the various paintings, sculptures, fossils, or whatever your museum has to offer. Again, they offer a relaxed quiet atmosphere where you can enjoy yourselves and really get to know one another.
If you find your date is interested in a particular topic such a painting, you can then go and purchase some paints and easels for relatively cheap and you’re ready for your second date!
